Destinations:

  • Ararat Arch - An arch through which one can see the breathtaking view of Mount Ararat from where comes the name of the arch.
  • Garni pagen temple - Hellenistic Greco-Roman colonnaded building built in the first century AD as a temple to the sun god. It was named after Garni village, after which is also named recently discovered water in Mars in crater.
  • Geghard Monastery  - The 4th century monastery complex being founded at the site of a sacred spring  carved  inside a cave, for which it was originally named Ayrivanq (the monastery of the cave) and then renamed as Geghardavanq (the monastery of the spear) keeping the spear inside by which Jesus Christ was hurt on the cross.  
  • Arinj Cave - The cave is an underground museum-cave firstly made for keeping potatoes.

Destinations:

  • Khor Virap - The Khor Virap which means deep pit/well is a 7th century monastery. The name comes from the fact that Grigor Illuminator was imprisoned here for about 14 years for bringing Christianity to Armenia.
  • Areni winery - Due to the Biblical legend the winemaking dates back to the grape planted by Forefather Noah in the slope of Mount Ararat where the Ararat valley is situated. Thus the winemaking in Armenia has 6 thousand years history and in the south-eastern region grows one of the world’s oldest sorts of grape – Areni from where comes the name of the village and the winery.
  • Khndzoresk Bridge - A swinging 160-meter long bridge was constructed in recent years by the residents of the village, with their own hands and no machinery was used for the construction, and even for the transportation of materials (horses were used).
  • Tatev Monastery  - A 9th century historical monument where you can find a pearl of Armenian architecture, one of the oldest spiritual centers and largest university of medieval Armenia, Pendulous Column – a unique medieval structure, and ancient frescoes by European masters.
  • Tatev Ropeway - A 5.7 km (3.5 mi) cableway is the longest ropeway in the world, the cable car travels at a speed of 37 km (23 mi) per hour and a one-way journey takes 10 minutes. At its highest point over the gorge, the car travels 320 m (1,050 ft) above ground level.
